MEET SVETLANA
My Story
I have had an interest in holistic wellness for as long as I remember. I was born and raised in Moscow, Russia where homeopathic remedies are still commonly used. My mother frequently used these remedies for various illnesses I had as a child.
After we moved to the U.S. and as I got older, I started seeing doctors for my ailments. Even though the medicine or treatments I received typically worked, I felt that the medicine would sometimes leave me with unwanted side effects and the doctors did not offer any alternatives or suggest that I improve my lifestyle to achieve better health.
Throughout my life I have been active. I enjoyed playing sports and keeping fit. Due to this, I was very familiar with the various aches and pains I would experience after participating in these activities. When my friends would complain that they had tightness in their muscles, I would offer to give them massages to alleviate their discomfort. They were always surprised by how quickly I would find the problem area and would compliment me on how good the massage felt. I would frequently hear that I had a gift for massage.
At that time, I thought about pursuing a career in massage, but decided that I would go with a more “practical” career choice in business. I received a BS in business management and worked for various companies, but I never felt fulfilled in these positions.
Becoming A Massage Therapist
In 2019 I evaluated my life and decided that I would need to make some changes in order to be happier. One of those changes was to go back to school for massage. I enrolled at the Sarasota School of Massage Therapy and graduated in 2020. During this time, I also began to take better care of myself. I joined a gym and started working out regularly. I began a practice of meditation and becoming more aware of my spiritual self. I even saw a therapist to help me work through my problems that were affecting my mind. As a result, I found myself happier, and healthier. I started to see that in order to be prepared for what life had to offer (the good and the bad) I needed to take ensure that my mind, body and spirit were all healthy.
I would like the opportunity to share my gift of massage to help my clients achieve this balance in life.
